Laws of Power – 16

Use absence to increase respect and honor: Too much circulation makes the price go down: The more you are seen and heard from, the more common you appear. If you are already established in a group, temporary withdrawal from it will make you more talked about, even more admired. You must learn when to leave. Create value through scarcity.

This is similar to basic economic principles of market supply and demand leveling off with market equilibrium. A person only has twenty four hours in a day. We must all find balance providing reasonable time to each demand or necessity otherwise life falls into chaos. I have applied this law many times in my life, my career, and other professional associations. The mob will consume every drop of energy you offer and cast you aside when, as a resource, you become dried up. Only under duress, do people seem to respect these boundaries or reasonable limits.
