I’m sitting in an airport right now with time to kill essentially and inevitably, my mind wanders. Big surprise right? Well I decided to sit down on one of several chairs flanking several ATM kiosks when I can of course plug my laptop in. I bear witness to the multitude of users inserting their card and conducting financial transactions. Now here is the question I have in my mind at the moment. “What would stop me from placing a discrete USB camera and card skimmer on these ATM machines?” There is no real airport surveillance to speak of watching me. People seem perfectly comfortable with my close proximity. Can you imagine what could be accomplished from an identity theft perspective with a complete card electronic image and a photo image of both the card and the person’s face?
