Laws of Power – 39

Stir up waters to catch fish: Anger and emotion are strategically counterproductive. You must always stay calm and objective. But if you can make your enemies angry while staying calm yourself, you gain a decided advantage. Put your enemies off-balance: Find the chink in their vanity through which you can rattle them and you hold the strings.

An ignorant man doesn’t know they are ignorant do they, nor does a crazy person know that they are crazy right? Arrogance is another animal altogether. I believe that a person is quite aware of their arrogance. The conundrum is that it veils our judgment, so, we think we are clever when in reality we become more transparent. This transparency exposes our weakness which is ripe for plucking. It would be a much better pursuit to be the thoughtful and wise sage who speaks only when it is truly appropriate to do so, does the right thing that benefits the deserving whole rather than the one, and strives to be better tomorrow than today.
