Cornmeal Griddle Cakes

1 c. corn meal
1 tsp. salt
1 c. boiling water
1 c. buttermilk
1 egg, slightly beaten
3/4 c. flour
1/3 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. soda

Combine cornmeal and salt. Stir in boiling water and cover. Let stand 10 minutes. Stir in eggs, buttermilk, flour, sugar, and soda. Batter will be very thin. Bake on well greased griddle. Serve at once. Makes 4 dozen small cakes.
